Introduction

Welcome to My new dog

The website which aims to provide a wealth of advice on choosing a dog, getting a dog, looking after a dog, feeding a dog, training a dog and everything else you need to know to be the most important person in a dog’s life. Of course you can take our advice or not, that's up to you, we merely offer it for free in case it's helpful. Ultimately, it's your responsibility and your decision on sharing your life with a dog, you are the best judge of what's best for you and your dog; if you trust your own judgement, your dog certainly will.

You will find links to masses of information and experience gained from decades of living with dogs, with external links to dog breeders, dog welfare charities, dog rescue centres and others with experience to share.

If you are thinking of getting a canine friend to share your life, there are things you should know. Too many people get a puppy on a whim, and, with no experience or knowledge of their needs, proceed to turn a potentially wonderful companion into a stressed out, nervous, unhappy dog, and too many of them are then abandoned as ‘too difficult to handle’ problem dogs.

There are no bad dogs or problem dogs. There are plenty of bad dog owners however, who can create problems for dogs and others, and our aim is to provide all the information a new dog person needs to ensure their dog’s life will be a happy, healthy and long one, and the rewards for being a good owner are what they should be; loyalty, loving companionship and fun.

Browse around using the links you will find to go to pages covering many aspects of dog companionship; choosing a dog or puppy, feeding and diet, exercise, vets and health care, insurance, rescue centres, different breeds and their needs, housing, behaviour and training, toys and treats, and lots more.

There is a section for you to send in your puppy or dog photos to celebrate the little beauty who gives you so much love and pleasure here, and a memorial section to celebrate those dogs you have loved who have passed away now, but will always be remembered here.

This is a non-commercial site, created and maintained for the benefit dogs and their new humans. A donation is always appreciated to help cover the running costs.
